Hey, I'm Beth.
I can't wait to meet you and your person.
Based in San Diego. Available from the desert to the Pacific Northwest.
A queer photographer who's been exactly where you are.
I've debated between how to plan my own wedding — Elope? Big reception? All the above? My wife and I had our private ceremony at Anza Borrego with four days' notice. Our heart dog Chanel had just been diagnosed with cancer, and we knew she had to be part of our wedding. I changed into my dress at a gas station on the way there (unique first look location for sure….), and it was perfect. We had the big celebration later, and I'm glad we did both. That's how I know the courthouse-now-party-later approach isn't a plan B. It's just a different route.
So I have the first-hand emotions of an intimate ceremony and a larger wedding, and I can genuinely relate to the highs and lows of each. I show up before your day handling permits, timelines, and vendor referrals, so that by the time you're standing there, everything is already taken care of. On your day, I protect the real moments, guide you back to each other, and keep you focused on what actually matters (it's probably less about the details and more about your love, hopefully!).

How it started
I was 13 with a camera, Tumblr, and feeling angsty.
My first camera came with a mission: one photo a day for a year. The 365 project. It's still on Flickr to this day - happy Googling. It ended up being many photos, many days, and I craved any opportunity to explore a new field or an abandoned building. Edgy, I know.
After school I went on photo excursions with my grandma - shooting in film and digital. As someone who has always been freaked out by how transitory moments are, photography helped me freeze the big ones and slow down to appreciate the smaller ones I'd otherwise take for granted.
I've always been sentimental and very much a romantic, so it didn't take me long to discover that couples photography is my truest passion. A lot has changed since I was 13 - I'm now an openly queer wife and mom, live in California, and have photographed hundreds of adventure sessions across the West Coast over more than a decade.
I still chase sunsets. And I still get giddy with excitement when someone is down to wake up at sunrise with me for photos.
13 year old vibes: angsty self portrait or running in a suburban field
Off the clock
You can catch me...
- Workin' on my fitness
- Exclaiming about something cute my dogs or baby are doing (...again)
- Planning a date somewhere my wife and I haven't been yet
- Quoting 2000s movies whether the reference is noticed or not
- Dreaming up my next road trip and obsessively planning every stop
- Urban exploring and debating whether or not to buy a coffee
- Hiking with my girls - dogs, wife, and baby girl

What couples
say about working with me.
"Her ability to capture the unique language that exists between each couple is unlike anything I've seen. She doesn't just document what's happening — she documents who you actually are together. That creates a bespoke experience unlike anything I've ever encountered in photography."
"Beth went above and BEYOND with our civil ceremony. Not only was she amazing the day-of, and even volunteered to be our witness, but she goes as far as really personalizing your experience before the actual event."
"She guided us through every step - suggesting the best time, locations, and helping us plan details we hadn't even thought of."
"Beth managed to capture not just images but the depth of our emotions and connection, and the fun and laughter we share every day."
"We were intentionally looking for queer-friendly vendors — Beth was the best find."
A few questions
people always ask.
Do you travel for sessions?
Always. I'm based in San Diego and I spend a lot of time in Big Sur, the Pacific Northwest, and Joshua Tree - but I'll go wherever makes sense for your day. If I'm already headed there, even better. Just ask.
What if we're awkward in front of cameras?
The people who feel most awkward in front of cameras are usually my favorite to photograph - after some guidance and natural prompts, they end up having so much fun. They often say it felt effortless instead of awkward, and finally have photos that document their dynamic and love.
Can I book you for a private ceremony and a bigger celebration separately?
Yes - and honestly, I think it's one of the best decisions a couple can make. Do the intimate part exactly how you want it, then celebrate with everyone else later. I photograph both and offer combined packages. I'm fully here for the entire wedding era - no matter how many days it is.
Can I bring my dog?
Um, duh! Bring the dog. Bring both dogs if you have them. I love when your pets think they're the main character. Just let me know in advance so I can location scout with them in mind and bring treats!
What's included in every booking?
Planning and timeline logistics, unlimited calls and texts, vendor recommendations, permit research and paperwork, location scouting, and emotional support and reassurance - all included, not upsold. The planning partnership is how I approach every booking. If you want a photographer to only show up and photograph, I am not a good fit for you.
Sound like
the right fit?
Let's start by getting to know each other. No pressure, no commitment - just a conversation about your day.
